JOB TARGET                                                                                

Preligens is looking for a qualified (5+ years of experience) IP/IT contracts lawyer to work with its Deputy CEO in charge of Strategy, Finance, Legal & Development (a former M&A/corporate lawyer) on a broad range of business matters requiring legal support. The successful candidate will act as advisor, interface and collaborate with the sales community, as well as providing support to other functions within the organization (including the Marketing, Product, R&D, Strategy and Finance teams). This position will be based in Paris, France.

MAIN AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Promote, secure and defend the legal interests of the Preligens business by giving professional legal advice and assistance to all the teams (in France, in Belgium, in the UK, in the USA and in Singapore)
Proactively contribute to the mitigation of Preligense business’ risks by identifying potential risks and elaborating alternative proposals

MAIN ACTIVITIES

- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of license, services and other agreements and documents, including non-disclosure agreements, data processing agreements, distribution or agent agreements, partnerships, procurement agreements, as well as long-term contracts with governmental entities
- Be in charge globally of the legal aspects of any matters related to the legal compliance of our products and IP related matters
- Monitoring, reviewing and assessing new laws that impact our products, and providing timely and practical advice on their implications
- Checking over time all open-source licenses
Contributing to the development of the Legal team, legal processes, etc.
- Ensuring that all legal processes/procedures are adhered to
- Preparing and delivering training in-house on key legal areas of interest
- Managing pre-litigation and litigation matters
- Supporting the other teams, including supporting our internal transaction/strategy desk on deal structuring

INFLUENCE ON RESULTS

Must-haves:
5+ years of experience with a proven track record in the legal department of an international group (as in-house lawyer) and/or in a law firm
Exposure to Commercial/IT/IP as well as data protection issues
Ability to work in various jurisdictions, and to draft contracts and lead negotiations in French and English
High level of autonomy, astute, organized, detail-oriented and results-driven
Strong communication (verbal and written), organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally across multiple groups and functions
Excellent judgment, a pragmatic and commercial approach to legal advice

Nice-to-haves:
Experience in the Defense & Space and/or Military-Intelligence sectors would be beneficial
