Roberta celebrates its 1st year!
A year ago our first newsletter on artificial intelligence was sent to your mailboxes, named Roberta - after the pioneer of modern intelligence, Roberta Wohlstetter.
In one year, we have grown a lot, learned a lot, and so have our algorithms! Their performance has been improving since 2016, to the point of being unmatched today in the detection and identification of objects of military interest.
We owe this technological excellence first and foremost to our teams. Some of them have been with us since the beginning and others for only a few days. We also owe it to our choice to address only Defense and Intelligence applications, to concentrate on one business vertical as others do on medical imaging applications, and finally, we owe it to our AI Factory which allows us to industrialize the creation and permanent improvement of algorithms.
In this anniversary edition of Roberta, fresh out of our AI Factory, we introduce ZEBRA, our new product that combines two detectors: buildings and roads, to map areas in minutes from a satellite image. We decipher "all the stripes" of ZEBRA with a use case, a vocabulary word and a video of Olivier Lallemant, who is also celebrating his first anniversary at Preligens.
For this special anniversary of Roberta, we also give the floor to Clément Delangue, for whom the name of this newsletter evokes an open source automatic language processing model (i.e.: RoBERTa).
Good reading, good listening and good viewing,
Arnaud Guérin and Renaud Allioux, co-founders of Preligens
