You are commanding an operation in a region that has remained unmapped for years and has gone through dramatic changes - such as a new wide urban development.
To conduct your operation, you need to quickly and thoroughly map the area.
Fortunately, you can count on the help of an optical satellite image provided by your Military Intelligence Agency. You can also count on the support of the separate Mapping Entity of the General Staff.
Following your request, the Mapping entity of your Brigade obtains a raster (.tiff for instance) of the region. This raster is huge - around 25 km2 - and contains thousands of buildings and roads.
On top of it, the raster alone is raw and cannot give you proper geographic information nor intelligence. It would take a long time from the Mapping entity to exploit it to deliver a reliable map of the region supporting your mission - namely several days at least with manual processing, a time the Entity does not have.
The Mapping entity uses ZEBRA by Preligens in order to exploit this raw raster and transform it into situational awareness for the ongoing operation. ZEBRA will use two powerful detectors, the road detector & the building detector, as well as vectorisation modules, and process the raster (with a Shapefile or GeoJSON as an output). In a matter of minutes, with ZEBRA used in the cloud or on premise, the area is mapped and key analytical mapping data is revealed. The time-gain for the Mapping Entity is considerable and you, on the ground, can process faster and better with the mission.
Road & building attributes revealed by ZEBRA and a GIS Software, such as the road width or number of buildings in a specific area, will help the forces on the ground to better master their environment. For instance, the road width will help to plan for a convoy or setting up a checkpoint.
Thanks to ZEBRA by Preligens, the map is revealed and your mission will benefit from heightened situational awareness.
